You are living subconsciously 95% of the time. This is great if your subconscious is on your side, allowing you to be confident and full of energy. However, if there are automatic thinking patterns that hold you back it is time to remove them once and for all.

The Power of The Subconscious

What are The Subconscious and Conscious Minds?

The subconscious mind is the reason you are able to ride a bike for the first time in years or drive a car when you come back from vacation. It contains automatic behaviors that don’t require conscious effort to perform. After a set of complex actions have been performed enough times they will begin to fall into the subconscious, and everything starts to flow effortlessly. The subconscious is much larger and more powerful than the conscious and contains every experience you have been through. Because of this, we live most of our day letting the subconscious run us because it is much easier and requires less energy. This is great for a survival lifestyle but in today’s world, we have to force ourselves to be conscious.

The conscious mind is the filter of experiences. Everything you have been through in your life went through the conscious mind and imprinted on the subconscious. This includes both good and bad experiences and allows for a socially capable person who fits into society. Most people think far more of their day is spent being conscious but it’s more like 1% to 5% and the rest is spent completely unconsciously.

Our ability to control thoughts, movements, and emotions depends on the type of information processing. Sigmund Freud studied for years and created a 3 level mind model these include the conscious, subconscious and unconscious.

  • Conscious – thoughts and actions we are aware of. For example, touching the bark of a tree and noticing how it feels.

  • Subconscious – Reactions and automatic actions we can become aware of if we notice them. For example, our ability to ride a bicycle and balancing to stay upright becomes automatic

  • Unconscious – Past events and memories that we can’t become aware of. For example, the first person we saw, or how it felt to say our first word.

The Power of The Subconscious

The subconscious mind is extremely powerful and responsible for 95% of our day. It is similar to a huge hard drive storing all of your experiences and creates a programming based on these and how you perceived them. Studies show that the unconscious memory is perfect but our ability to recall them using our conscious mind isn’t as efficient.

The subconscious makes sure that you respond to certain situations in accordance to your programming. This means that most of the things you say or do you have no control over. This is scary to think about but if your programming works with you then you are unstoppable.

Your subconscious mind has what is called a homeostatic impulse. This means It keeps your body temperature, your breathing, and your heartbeat stable. It maintains a balance throughout your body making sure that each process is working correctly. This is also applicable to your mental state, which is also kept in a state of balance from previous experiences. It is very hard to overwrite the things that run your life making it very important to have a ‘healthy’ subconscious.

Learning how to reprogram your subconscious mind will help you believe in yourself because your confidence won’t suffer from the fear of the unknown. Also, you will train your brain to be in line with your true desires, dreams, and life goals creating a much better life for yourself.

Benefits of getting the subconscious on your side:

  • You can be authentic
  • Easily accept disagreement
  • Feel good in your own skin
  • Confident
  • Expressive
  • Joyful
  • Welcome challenges
  • More resilient

Those Who Remain Unaware of This Potential

Many people do not know how much power their subconscious holds over them, sometimes this doesn’t matter but other times it can make a person’s life hell.

The subconscious mind performs at 40 million bits of data per second but the conscious only 40 bits per second. All of the programming we have inside the subconscious mind is constantly looking for an external way to prove that it is true this is why you can keep being pulled back to it even if you want to do something beneficial. It will always win out over the conscious mind. This means that if you have negative programming within your subconscious 95% of your life will be led by it. This can be torture for people and extremely frustrating because they try to be better but have a huge weight dragging them back.

Disadvantages of a negative subconscious:

  • Fear of what other people are thinking about you
  • Fear of not being loved
  • Fear of not being respected as we are
  • Low confidence
  • Procrastination
  • Depression
  • Anxiety
  • Feelings of Unworthiness

How To Get Your Subconscious On Your Side

In order to get those negative automatic behaviors out of your subconscious, you’re going to have to become aware of them. You cannot do this if you are distracted by TV or the radio, you’ll have to be quiet and listen to what’s going on inside. The best way to do this is Guided meditation because you will be taken by the hand to find the root of your issues. You will become more aware of the problems inside and we then work on releasing these from your mind. This process can reduce self-sabotage, procrastination and be stifled as these are all learned behaviors that have become automatically stuck in the subconscious. These traits can make life hard and heavy but Guided meditation can release them for good.
