There is huge happiness when you stop needing something to happen or try to avoid something at all costs. This is resistance and it is always met with misery and struggle. You cannot control everything in life and when you begin to allow things to happen and accept what you have right now; even greater things will come your way.
“You must learn to let go. Release the stress. You were never in control anyway.” – Steve Maraboli. What Is It To Surrender In modern society, surrendering has a negative connotation attached to it. It is seen as weak and something that should be avoided at all costs. This stems from war heroes and praised fighters who never surrendered, is something that is looked up to and admired. But these people were fighting something in the physical world, if you try to fight your ego or different events in an effort to change the unchangeable then this isn’t bravery this is stupidity. Surrendering to circumstances and your mind are some of the bravest things a person can do. To forget their conditioning and go with what is truly authentic to them involves a lot of surrendering and disowning many beliefs that have been pressed upon them. Surrendering is simply allowing something to happen with a complete lack of resistance. It is getting out of your own way to allow change to happen, to allow growth and experience to occur. When you do this you begin to accept the negatives in life and feel more at ease with them, you can bounce back much easier and experience far less depression and anxiety. Most people today do not believe they are worthy of the best things, money, relationships, health they believe it just isn’t them. This is resistance; they have blocked off a part of themselves. The process of realizing they are worthy again to allow for new things in their life, relationships and career etc. is known as surrender. The Benefits of Surrendering When you begin to surrender and give up control things go much more smoothly when you allow them to happen instead of making them happen. The benefits far outweigh whatever it is you’re trying to run away from. You need to take a step back and dive into what is it you’re afraid of if the bad things happen. You may have seen people who are very relaxed and nothing seems to get to them, well they have less conditioning than you and are able to go with the flow of life with fighting against it. The benefits of surrender: Calm and relaxed More self-awareness Secure Grounded Emotional control Fewer negatives Freedom Accepting what is and simply allowing things to happen gives you a massive sense of peace and calmness. You cannot become stressed if you are not resisting anything, just breathe through it and focus on the situation right now. You take a step back and nothing can bother you anymore no matter all the crazy things that might be going on in your life, you understand that you can only control yourself. You make peace with the obstacles and setbacks. They’re just a part of life. And whatever change may come, you’re going to be fine. Accepting and allowing things to happen is a lot like calming rippling water. It allows you to really see what is going on by removing any filters, judgments or thoughts you had about the event. Plus if you accept what you are looking at you will begin to remove all self-judgment and self-hate which boosts self-esteem and confidence. So you must first accept what you see. All of your beauty. All of your ugliness. All of it. Everything. It’s you. And you can’t change it. Then you can begin to work on allowing the great things in life to come to you. You become much more secure in yourself and in your life-situation. If you accept and surrender the less vulnerable you are to change and circumstance. You are grounded and strong which is the perfect base to come from when wanting to improve your life. When you fight against what you cannot change, you neglect that which you can. If you are stubborn to change you will fall because of the resistance which always persists and becomes stronger with time. Resistance is the opposite of acceptance. Even the strongest person will break from the struggle of resisting life. If you are more flexible with what is going on and bend with life you will always come out the other side stronger. While it is normal to want stability and familiarity, life is ever changing. Security and stability are just illusions. Once you accept this then you’ll find true security. Life Without Surrender On the other hand, if you do not allow things to change by surrendering to life then you will always be stressed, anxious and depressed. Your life will be filled with a growing resistance never allowing you to grow and achieve the things you want in life. Negative of a lack of surrender: Stress Health issues Depression Stagnation Fear Poor relationships Poverty Suicide Without surrendering to your ego, life and your beliefs there is no way you can grow. You will constantly self-sabotage and always feel like you are not enough. You will live a life filled with escapism and torment. You will try to control things to avoid the negatives in life but this is only rooted in fear. You are always attached to a specific outcome which you assume to be the best but could, in fact, be even worse. The energy of surrender accomplishes much more than the energy of control. When you are trying to control your vision gets very narrow and focused, your breath is shallow, adrenaline is pumping and your heart rate increases. Your mind will become unsettled and will shift from topic to topic and from past to future very quickly, you will have little concentration, poor memory, and almost no present-moment awareness. How Do You Surrender Right now you try to run away from the pain with drugs, alcohol, sex, food or cigarettes. You have to throw all of the escapism away and do the exact opposite. The only way out is through so you have to sit down with your darkest feelings and be with them fully, dive deep into them and surrender. Only then can you become a whole authentic being who allows growth to happen. Surrender literally means to stop fighting. Stop fighting with yourself and the universe. You have to stop resisting and pushing against reality. In order to achieve this state of surrender, you need complete acceptance and faith. You will have to sit with yourself and ask the tough questions such as what am I afraid will happen if I let go of control? And would letting go feel like freedom? So how do we do it? The best way is with guided meditation where you meditate with a qualified coach who takes you through the tough parts of your mind so that they will not run you anymore. You will banish all negative beliefs allowing you to attract the best things in life with the full knowledge that you deserve them.
